MAGICIAN YEAR WRITING WORKSHOP

2026 is a Magician year!

Each year corresponds to a different card in the Major Arcana of a tarot deck. The Major Arcana, from the Fool card to the World card, represent a series of archetypes that we can tap into and use as guides – and also as writing prompts! – as we contemplate the various journeys and paths we take throughout our lives and in our creative practice.

To calculate which tarot card corresponds to each year, we add up the digits of that year until we reach a single digit. So, 2026 is 2+0+2+6 = 10, and 1+0 = 1. The first card in the Major Arcana is the Magician card, which makes the Magician our card and archetype for 2026.

In 2026, we can also work with the Wheel of Fortune (card #10) and the Sun (card #19), the digits for which also reduce down to one when added.
