What is Creativity Coaching?

“After sessions with Catherine, I walk away with so much more clarity around who I am, what I want to intentionally shift in my life, and where to focus my energy in order to get there. Catherine's deep curiosity and solid coaching skills feel supportive (and critical) as I work to turn my passion into my business.”

-Jen O., Dancer and Entrepreneur

This is space for you.

I hold space and am completely present to focus on your vision and goals.

During our sessions on Zoom, we set an agenda for what you would like to be coached on. I listen and reflect back on themes that are popping up for you, and we go deeper together via powerful questions, tailored writing prompts, and more. We end each session with your takeaways and clarity on next steps.

You get support between sessions.

I help to hold you accountable to your creative vision.

Between our sessions, you continue the deep work of getting in alignment with your artistic vision and setting and reaching meaningful goals. I support you in this process via email and Voxer voice messages. You also receive a recording of each coaching session and personally tailored prompts, inspired by our conversations.

We explore options together.

You lead the way, with me offering various techniques from my toolbox to help you on your journey.

In addition to my training and experience as a writer, visual artist, and musician, and my coaching training, I am also a certified advanced SCUBA diver, and I’m absolutely ready to bring in diving metaphors as they are useful!

If you are interested in tarot, I am happy to bring card pulls in for guidance and prompts in our discussions, or offer tailored prompts for your own tarot practice. We can also do energy tracking with lunar cycles, and/or incorporate guided breathing and somatic check-ins.

Here’s a fun fact: in addition to my background in the arts, I have a finely-honed analytical brain from years of studying advanced math and science, so I can also come at things with a practical and linear approach as is helpful. My project management experience from 25+ years of assorted jobs in NYC (including nearly 15 years directing faculty research centers in universities) helps in this regard, too.

In addition to the work together that we do through coaching, I love bringing resources to my clients that I’ve accumulated over decades of network building and my work with creative organizations.

“Catherine is amazing and has been such a great support in my creative life. She has taught me so much about the importance of community and taking care of my creative needs. She has consistently made me (and my creative goals and dreams) feel seen and safe. She has helped me believe in myself as an artist. I'm so grateful to have worked with her!”

Change is inevitable, especially over a full year, but your identity and practice as an artist can be inevitable, too! Together, we build your resiliency and your trust in your unique creative vision, and we make sure you are always moving into greater alignment with your unique artistic identity.

“No matter where you are, Catherine can help you re-frame and re-prioritize your creativity. It's up to you to implement the practices, but she can help you zoom in or zoom out to see what you need to see, and figure out how to get to the next step.”
